The addition of approximately 700 Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) sunshade hoods that reduce solar load and decrease energy consumption. The façade upgrade represented a key component of the adaptive reuse objective for this office building located in San Francisco, CA. Attached to the building’s curtain wall via aluminum brackets, the hoods vary in height based on window height and shape. Wind, seismic, and thermal loadings were considered.
