Colorado State University Fort Collins Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Family Equine Hospital

Fort Collins, Colorado

In 2021, the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Family Equine Hospital (JFEH) opened with the quest to advance regenerative treatments for animals and people alike. This equine dedicated facility is located on 6 acres of the CSU’s South Campus and was the 2nd phase of development under the P3 Partnership with Tetrad Property Group. The 100,000 square foot building is home for equine teaching, research and clinical services and includes innovations including a high-resolution computed tomography scanner to diagnose disease and injury and isolation stalls for bio security. Martin/Martin’s civil team developed infrastructure including new roadways, parking, critical utilities and support buildings for the undeveloped north side of the CSU South Campus to accommodate JFEH and progress towards the South Campus Master Plan. Exterior paddock, pasture and isolation spaces were design for animal care and a Eurosizer for animal exercise was relocated. Drainage was designed for rainfall protection and conveyance with special water quality methods implemented for the unique animal conditions of the campus.
