Martin/Martin has provided services to the Museum for decades. Recently, we completed structural design, construction services, and rebar detailing for the Museum’s new, 5-story, 126,000 SF addition. The facility features an interactive science center for children, additional space for engaging science programs and world-class traveling exhibitions, mechanical upgrades, and a state-of-the-art preservation and research facility for more than 1.4 million artifacts and specimens— sunken 50' below grade. The project is certified LEED Platinum.
Civil work on the project included a first-of-its-kind recycled water line used to heat and cool the museum. Water is collected from the nearby City Park golf course, conveyed underground to the museum for use, then returned to the golf course at the same temperature.
