Located in Tulsa, OK, the Gathering Place is a 100-acre park alongside the Arkansas River. Completed in 2018, the center of the park features the ONEOK Boathouse and Pavilion. Martin/Martin assisted Kreysler & Associates, a company known for bringing marine composite materials to the construction industry, in the design of the pavilion canopy structure. Composed of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP), the panels cover approximately 5,000 SF of pavilion space. Supported by 22 steel pipe columns and ancillary pipe bracing, simulating boat masts, the canopy is comprised of 130 panels of various polygonal shapes, sizes, and angles of installation. Designed to look like sails, these panels create a dramatic, iconic, and functional art piece at the center of this new community park. Steel columns, connections, anchor bolts and miscellaneous artistic elements were included in the structural scope.
