The Chamonix Hotel and Casino

Cripple Creek, Colorado

The 440,000 square foot Chamonix Hotel and Casino is part of a $300 million gaming and conference center development in downtown Cripple Creek Colorado. The project features a state-of-the-art gaming casino, conference center, hotel, restaurants, health spa, swimming pool, retail shop, and a 300-vehicle parking structure. The historic Bronco Billy’s casinos were also renovated and expanded. The grand entry to the Hotel, Casino, and Conference Center are constructed of structural steel from levels one to three. Level three is a steel podium structure that supports four levels of light-gage cold formed load bearing wall panels with concrete slabs on composite metal deck. The south wing is six levels of hotel, structured with light-gage cold formed load bearing wall panels and slabs on metal deck. The north wing has four levels of parking constructed of precast concrete. Over the top of the parking garage is a long span steel podium structure to support the hotel levels above. The north wing podium is framed with 60” deep built-up structural steel beams with a concrete slab on metal deck with six levels of hotel also framed of light-gage bearing wall panels with concrete slabs on composite metal deck. The project was designed and constructed as a phased, fast-tracked project with multiple early structural packages to expedite the construction process. Civil engineering services included the design of right-of-way improvements to Carr Street and Bennett Avenue, relocation of a sanitary sewer main and rerouting an existing storm sewer system. Two new surface parking lots and plaza areas were also designed as a part of the project.
