Structural and civil engineering services for a new 114,000 SF performing arts facility on the UNC campus in Greeley. The facility houses a 600-seat performance hall, 400-seat multipurpose auditorium, student services center, art gallery, and traditional office space. The Campus Commons functions as a gateway building to the rest of campus, welcoming campus visitors, centralizing student support services, and supporting the renowned Performing and Visual Arts programs at UNC. Structural challenges included integrating complex entry canopy geometries with the primary structural frame, retaining 20 feet of soil to allow second floor outdoor access adjacent to the existing University Center, and working with a theater consultant to provide structure to support performance hall’s acoustic, rigging and orchestra lift criteria. Civil services included roadway, access, utility, right-of-way, pedestrian facility, bicycle facility, and public transportation design.
